Skies of Ticivorna
My cockiness almost got the better of me. I figured that it would have to one of these days. I had just fended off half a dozen pirates as we retreated with the catapult. I was on fire with my shots – pop pop pop. Took most of them down with my revolver and confused the rest with smoke bombs. Based on my limited medical knowledge, they were severely wounded but not killed. It’s better that way. Thaddeus contributed too, and Breaker was his usual brave self, but his also usual unluckiness almost brought him down. The high point of my conceit came when one of the pirate schlubs started stabbing with his dull knife. He couldn’t pierce through my leather jacket, which could hardly be called armor. I pistol-whipped him in response. Gave him a goose egg, but no lasting damage, and then he got in a good slash with his knife. Oh, and I was out of bullets. I turned and ran, getting a bit cut up in the process, but escaped with no lasting damage.
I still don’t know if we’re doing the right thing by storming this fortress like some half-sophisticated highwaymen. It all depends on Claire and if she’s telling the truth. And what she plans on doing with that airship. When I joined a guild I figured it would come to situations like this. Jobs are known to get violent when a great prize is at stake. I just hope we all make it back in one piece.
